Hay River: Riding the wave of a great 276 final game Lillian Crook won the 300 Club Tournament and year's free lineage beating out seven other competitors. Well done and congratulations Lillian. We hope this year to be more current and revitalize our site. Doing so requires that we receive up to date and comprehensive information and ideas. Please send tournament results, any highlights from your lanes, photos, etc., etc.
Here is a highlight from the Kingpin Bowling Centre in Yellowknife sent in By Steve O'Hara: Last night in the Thursday Night League, Cole Bouchard threw, what I believe to be, the 3rd highest triple for men, ever thrown in the NWT. His games of 324,307, and 339 gave him a 970 total. The NWT record for men is an even 1000 thrown back in 1992 by Derek Paproski. Cole recorded 24 strikes throughout the evening. It's definitely good for NWT Bowling to have him back throwing this year. It will be interesting to see if his current average (323) will help him make a run at the NWT season average record of 259 set by George Lund in 1989. By the way, the Canadian record is 329.
Congratulations to the Yellowknife Host Committee for putting on a fantastic tournament. Everyone had a great time. Many, many thanks to all of the sponsors. Well done Pete and Gary. held our Territorial Open Championships on the weekend of Feb. 11th in
Hay River, and it was exciting to watch Mike Penkala battle his son
Andrew in the stepladder for the singles spot. Mike came through after
defeating Andrew twice, but watch out for this father/son competition
in future years. Debbie Euchner gave Kim Bailey a run, defeating her
first with a 316 in the stepladder, but Kim kept her spot on the second
match, and joins Mike as our Singles competitors. Youth Challenge Results. The top three in each category comprise the team.
